What is 2ask and what can it be used for?
2ask is a web-based tool for online surveys. You can use it to map the entire process: Create questionnaires, invite participants, monitor responses and analyse results. Typical areas of application are employee and customer surveys, seminar evaluations, patient feedback, market research as well as research and teaching.
For which areas of application is 2ask suitable?
The platform is aimed at teams without in-depth statistical or IT expertise as well as professional users with higher methodological requirements. 2ask is used by organisations worldwide, especially where reliable data and a structured evaluation process are required.
How long has 2ask been on the market?
2ask has been used by customers from all over the world for online surveys for over 25 years.
Is 2ask GDPR-compliant and suitable for data protection-sensitive projects?
Yes, we work in compliance with the GDPR in accordance with European standards and attach great importance to legally compliant and responsible data processing.
Where is the data hosted?
We host in Germany and operate 2ask on our own infrastructure in secure data centres.
Do I need to install software?
No. You work directly in the browser, without local installation. This allows you to quickly start even short-term survey projects.
Can I map the entire survey process in one tool with 2ask?
Yes, with 2ask you cover the entire process from questionnaire creation to implementation and evaluation.

What does the free trial tariff from 2ask offer and what restrictions are there?
What advantages do the paid tariffs offer compared to the trial version?
Paid tariffs enable the professional implementation of surveys with high participant limits (depending on the tariff). The benefits include ad-free use, full GDPR compliance thanks to operation in German data centres, personal support by email or telephone and extended functions such as export to Microsoft Office or complex logics.
What are the differences between the standard tariff and the business tariff?
The standard tariff enables visual diagram analyses and PDF exports of these as well as raw data downloads in Excel. The business tariff also offers a layout configurator for corporate design, a Microsoft Office interface (native, editable diagrams in Word/PPT/Excel), group comparisons (benchmarking), statistical key figures (mean value, standard deviation) and additional diagram types such as network or stacked diagrams.
What is the difference between the Business tariff and the Enterprise tariff I?
The Enterprisetariff I increases the participant limit and allows up to 3 users access to 2ask. It includes exclusive functions such as the team library, the module for file upload questions, looping (repetition of sections), quota control, sharing online reports via link, a REST API and the option to conduct surveys under your own domain.
What discounts are available for non-profit organisations?
At 2ask, non-profit organisations receive a permanent discount of 50% on the standard, business and enterprise tariffs. To take advantage of this, the user ID must be sent to support after registering a trial tariff, whereupon a voucher code will be issued.
What tariffs are available for pupils and students?
How can I cancel my tariff?
Cancellation takes place directly in the user account under 'My account' > 'Manage settings' > 'Your tariff'. The cancellation must be confirmed there, which also includes consent to the deletion of the data on the expiry date. There is no cancellation period; cancellation is possible until the last day of the term. You will automatically receive a cancellation confirmation by e-mail.
Survey Creation
What types of questions does 2ask offer?
A large selection (over 25 types) is available, including free text, numerical entries, multiple choice, matrix/table questions, side-by-side/group matrix, sliders/stars, rankings, (constant) totals and file uploads. This allows both simple feedback and complex studies to be realised.
How do I create multilingual surveys?
Additional languages can be added in the survey options. Texts can be entered manually in a comparison (translation view), compared, exported/imported via Excel or automatically translated via the DeepL module. Participants can change the language during the survey.
Does 2ask support the creation of accessible surveys?
Yes, 2ask is based on the WCAG 2.1 guideline. Standard question types are optimised for screen readers and keyboard navigation. However, drag-and-drop questions (ranked lists) should be avoided as they cannot be displayed in an accessible way. High-contrast focus colours should be selected for the focus indicator. Can I trigger emails to participants who enter their address in the questionnaire?
Yes, you can use the 'Email trigger' module to send a message to an address that has been entered in an input field of the 'Email' type, for example, or that is also available as a contact. This is suitable, for example, for confirmations or sending vouchers after the survey has been completed.
Can I upload files or images from participants?
Yes, there is a 'File upload' question type for this. Images are automatically optimised during upload to save storage space and increase performance.
Does 2ask offer AI support when creating questionnaires?
Yes, the AI can suggest questions, answer options or entire questionnaires based on your specifications; the function can be deactivated if desired.
How does automatic translation work with DeepL?
The entire questionnaire can be translated with just a few clicks using an additional module. Over 30 languages are supported, including English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Turkish.
How do I conduct a competition in an anonymous survey?
How are participants in employee surveys invited?
Participants can be invited by e-mail via individual links. QR codes or access codes can be generated and physically distributed for employees without their own e-mail address.
Results & Analysis
How do I create crosstabs or breakdowns?
Crosstabs can be easily created with 2ask using drag and drop.
The '+' icon in the report area can be used to add new elements of the type 'Breakdown' or crosstabs. This enables the clear comparison of groups, e.g. responses by department, customer groups, age groups or gender.
Can I continue to edit diagrams in PowerPoint or Word?
From the Business tariff upwards, diagrams are exported as native Microsoft Office objects. This means you can adjust chart types, labels, colours, font sizes and data series directly in Excel, PowerPoint or Word without having to recreate or re-export the chart.
What is the code plan in the Excel export of the raw data?
The code plan contains all variables, questions and the corresponding answer codes (e.g. 1 = yes, 2 = no). It can be optionally added during the Excel export of the raw data and appears as a separate 'code_plan' worksheet.
What statistical key figures does 2ask analyse?
From the Business tariff upwards, statistical key figures such as mean value, standard deviation and variance can be calculated automatically and displayed in tables or diagrams.
Team & Administration
Can surveys be shared between user accounts / within a team? Is it possible to work together in a team?
Questionnaires, including reports and crosstabs, can be shared via the team library. Surveys, reports and crosstabs can also be released for joint work in the team with different authorisations.
Is there a holiday substitution function?

How do I prevent my invitation emails from ending up in spam?
Does 2ask have an API?
Yes, a REST API is available in the Enterprise tariffs. This enables, for example, the automated creation of contacts, the sending of emails or the creation of customised links from external systems, the downloading of results and raw data and many other functions.
Can I use 2-factor authentication (2FA)?

How secure is data transmission (SSL/TLS) at 2ask?
Is orbiz/2ask ISO 27001 certified?
The data centres in which the servers are operated have an ISMS and are certified in accordance with ISO 27001.
Are penetration tests or vulnerability scans carried out?
Yes, an automated vulnerability scan is carried out regularly. The reports are analysed internally in order to proactively close security gaps. A manual penetration test (simulated attack) is available as a separate service on request.
Does 2ask fall under the DORA regulation?
No. 2ask is not an ICT service within the meaning of DORA, as the tool is not permanently required for the performance of the main business activity of financial companies.
How do I handle the privacy policy for my survey?
2ask provides information on the cookies used. The link to the privacy policy can be integrated directly into the footer of the survey in the 'Design' section.
